Our organization and design projects.
Organization of a walk in closet
This project took 4.5 hours. The client was a pleasure to work with. She was able to edit a significant amount of her cloths. Some she donated to a local church and some she was able to sell to a local vintage store. She enjoys hats so we were able to display them in a way that is both accessible to her and serves as a collection design. She had several baskets that we used to contain bathing suits, tights and travel bags so she did not have to spend extra money on containers. We created different areas for denim, overalls, dressy dresses, everyday dresses and button down shirts. We converted most of the items into hanged items rather then folded items which is easier to maintain. Her closet used to contain the household’s sheets and towels. We were able to find a different location in the house for it and converted the cabinet previously housing the sheets and towels into a shoes cabinet. Leaving the closet just for her and turning it into a space she enjoys entering every morning.
Organization of a storage space
This project took about 16 hours to complete. The client had a storage room that was full from top to bottom with barley any walking space inside the storage room (we forgot to take before pictures). We were only able to make minimal editing as the client wanted to keep most of his items. This client loves camping so we created a shelving unit housing all of his camping gear. The client also has a book collection that he does not have room to display inside his house. We contained all his books in plastic containers to protect them from possible mold and wetness. The space also functions as a supply room so we created a shelf unit for all of the supply items. By reorganizing the space, containing most of the items in clear boxes, and relocating some to another storage area we were able to transform the space into a functional storage room with easy access to all items
Pantry organization
This project took 2 hours to complete. It required taking out the content of the pantry and discarding all items that expired. The next step was to purchase 3 kinds of clear storage containers, one for the water bottles and thermoses and two sizes, small and large, of clear, no lead containers. The next step was to think about what kind of snacks and dry foods this family consume. Once we established needs and goals we just contained all the content in the new bins and done.
Organization of a multipurpose closet
This project took six hours to complete over four different meetings. Three meetings at the client’s home and one meeting at Home Depot. We first had to establish that this closet will function as a “home” to the family’s linens, cleaning supplies and bathroom supplies thus removing everything else and either relocating it or editing it out completely. The client had 3 wire storage baskets that are great for visually accessible containment. She ended up purchasing 5 more baskets for unity of looks. She decided what will go in each one and we labeled them to create a clear system the rest of the family can follow. We also made four more custom shelves from plane plywood that the client painted white. This was done in order to take advantage of the big space at the bottom unit that was left unused. We added wall-mount broom holders for the mops, broom and duster for organized clean look.
Three Simple solutions
Junk drawer
Any junk drawer can be easily organized with some editing, categorizing and containing. The transformation is significant both visually and functionally.
Shopping bags organizer
Even though reusable bags are popular and well used these days somehow the disposable paper bags are still very much around and despite efforts to reduce them they still seem to accumulate in our homes. A simple solution to keep them contained and organized is to use a cutting board rack organizer. It is perfect for shopping bags just as much!
Wires
Despite bluetooth and wireless technology it will be a while until we will part from cables and wires. Different wire chargers, headphones and various cable and cords tend to accumulate and tangle. Use Reusable Cable Ties (I like the velcro ones) to organize your cables and wires. It is very pleasing and saves space too.
